Prospecton, Durban·Designed & cut in-house
Architectural screens,Cut to your
millimetre.
Laser-cut aluminium screens, gas cages, aircon covers, shading and gates — drawn, cut and finished on our own machines in Durban.
Drawn before it is cut
Every panel is drawn to your opening, at full scale, before a single cut is made.
You approve the CAD. Changes at that stage cost nothing — changes after cutting cost a sheet of aluminium. It is the least glamorous part of the job and the reason panels fit.
One workshop, no middleman
Cut, coated and packed under one roof in Prospecton.
Nothing is subcontracted, so nothing waits in a queue at a third supplier and no margin is stacked at each handover.

What we make
Thirteen products, one method: your opening measured, the panel drawn, then cut and finished here. Scroll on.

Spec a panel right here
Size, pattern, density, finish. The open area is calculated from the real geometry — not picked off a chart.

Open area
0%
Blocks a direct sightline from a few metres. Still passes air.
These are samples, not a menu. Khatim, Najdi, Seljuk and Mashrabiya are traditional geometries we cut often — but any drawable pattern can be cut, including your own artwork or a motif from a building you like. Send us a design.
Indicative geometry · exact open area confirmed on your CAD
03 — Pattern
Open area is a number, not a mood
How much light, air and view gets through is a specification. We quote it, then cut to it.
Reed
25 – 40%Vertical slots of varying width. The safest seller and the easiest to live with.
Perforation gradient
15 – 55%Aperture size eases across the sheet. Privacy where you need it, light where you do not.
Contour
30 – 45%Topographic bands that read as landscape. Works well across long horizontal runs.
Mashrabiya
20 – 40%Interlocking geometry with an exact repeat. The traditional screening pattern, cut to tolerance.
Khatim
25 – 45%The eight-pointed seal — two overlapping squares, with a small rotated square between. The geometry behind most contemporary Gulf and Saudi screening.
Najdi
30 – 50%The stepped triangular perforation of Diriyah and old Riyadh. Reads as strong horizontal rhythm across a long run.
Seljuk
25 – 42%The interlaced twelve-point star of Anatolia, with hexagonal fillers. The Turkish tradition, cut to modern tolerance.

05 — What people say
“They drew it before they cut it, and the drawing matched what arrived to the millimetre. That is rarer than it should be.”
Nadia P.
Homeowner · Umhlanga
“Six condensers hidden and not one resident complaining that their aircon got worse. They worked the airflow out properly instead of guessing.”
Trustee · Ballito
“The repeat is exact across every panel. Anyone who works with geometric pattern knows how hard that is to hold.”
Committee member · Durban North
“Ordered on the Monday, fitted it myself the following Saturday. The drill template did all the thinking.”
Sipho M. · Pietermaritzburg
5days
Small orders leave in about five days.
Aircon covers and compact screens are usually out of the workshop within a week, because cutting, coating and packing all happen in the same building. Larger custom work takes longer and we quote the real date with the CAD — not an optimistic one.
I’m specifying a project
CAD issued for approval before cutting, honest scope boundaries, and one supplier from drawing to delivery. Work directly against your elevations.
I’m buying for my home
Flat-packed with the fixings and a one-page fitting guide. At 2 mm it is light enough to lift and fit yourself, and it ships anywhere in South Africa.
06 — Before you ask
Common questions
Do you deliver outside Durban?
Yes. We flat-pack and ship anywhere in South Africa. Delivery is quoted on weight and destination, and you are welcome to arrange your own courier. Installation is our own team in Durban and approved partner installers in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
How long does an order take?
Small DIY items such as aircon covers and compact screens usually leave the workshop in about five days. Larger custom projects take longer, and we quote a real date with the CAD rather than an optimistic one.
Can I send you my own design?
Yes. Send a drawing, a logo, a DXF or even a photo of something you saw. We redraw it for cutting and confirm the CAD with you before anything is cut.
What material do you use?
Aluminium and ACM composite up to 2 mm, powder coated or spray painted to any colour. Aluminium does not rust, which matters a great deal on the KwaZulu-Natal coast.
Tell us the opening. We’ll draw the panel.
Rough dimensions are fine — we confirm every measurement on the CAD before cutting. No obligation, and no pushy follow-up.
